Sherry Johnson

Sherry Johnson is an AANP certified family nurse practitioner as of May 2021. She comes with a large array of clinical and educational experience since 1999. She started her career in healthcare as a medical assistant for 5 years in a community health center, urgent care, and a family practice setting. She was quickly motivated to pursue a higher level of education and quickly found herself returning to school to become an LPN in 2003. She worked as such for 8 years in the settings of urgent care, cosmetic dermatology, and as a respiratory care nurse, with some moonlighting in other specialties. She then decided to elevate her clinical skills to be a better resource to the community by returning again to a HBCU and becoming a baccalaureate trained RN.  She graduated as an honor Cum Laude graduate in her hometown of Norfolk, VA from Norfolk State University.

This allowed her to work as a cardiovascular thoracic nurse for 3 years, and 7 years as an emergency department nurse where she found the desire to educate the community in an undeserved setting. It was then she knew that she was meant to evolve her practice and become a provider that allowed for more guidance and health teaching which led her to my current educational accomplishment of family nurse practitioner.  She attended the University of St. Augustine of Health Science in St. Augustine, FL, and graduated with honors as Magna Cum Laude in December of 2020.

While attending USA of health science she was afforded an opportunity to study abroad for 10 days in Italy during one of her academic semesters. Fulfilling the goal of becoming an FNP-C has allowed her the opportunity to serve the community and provide education to patients to influence lifestyle changes and better health.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family while traveling and learning new cultures that influence health across the globe through diet and exercise.
