“No amount of schooling or time spent in clinical rotations prepares you for how you will feel as a brand-new provider. The NoGAPP residency program allows for a year-long transition period with an assigned peer coach who helps guide you along the way. The program generously allows the new nurse practitioner to grow his or her practice in a controlled manner that is not overwhelming, while at the same time providing a strong foundation to be a competent practitioner.”
“Not only does the residency program offer enriching activities and hands-on training for procedures necessary to becoming a capable practitioner, it provides me with peers that I can identify with. Being part of the residency cohort provides me with the support and understanding of others who are new providers just like me. Our small group quickly became tight knit as we all share similar challenges, victories, and apprehensions. I never feel like I am in this alone. Having that built-in network has been a vital part of my success in transitioning to this new career.”
“One of my favorite parts of this program are the specialty rotation days. Once a week we get to spend the day with another provider at a specialty practice. During these days we gain practical knowledge that we can take back and apply to our own patients.”
“I feel incredibly fortunate to have found and become a part of the NoGAPP residency program. It allows me to acclimate to a new career at a manageable pace while providing the crucial support that a new graduate needs when transitioning into the primary provider role.”
